 Christian graduated in political sciences at St-Gall University and became assistant to Prof. Dr. Alois Riklin in 1974. He was charged to establish the Press and Information Office of St-Gall University which he managed as Head of Information. In 1979 he got his second degree in economy and business administration at Zurich University.
Joining Farner PR in 1978 he became head of a consulting group and served clients like Credit Suisse, Alusuisse and Unilever in the fields of corporate communications, financial and investor relations. He was also nominated Head of Design and Management for the National Exhibitions project CH91 by the Canton of Zug. During this time he started his ongoing activity as an examination expert and a lecturer at the Swiss Public Relations Institute for agency management and ethics as well as the IKM postgraduate program of St-Gall and Neuchatel Universities.
He left Farner PR as First Vice President in 1986 to join the Trimedia Group where he was responsible for the Public Relations, Advertising and Publishing activities with agencies in Zurich, Berne, Lausanne, Geneva and Lugano. Within the group management he was also supervisor of Trimedia Paris and Trimedia Milano. Besides these tasks Christian was leading a consulting team for international clients like Swiss Bank Corporation (today UBS), SAP and ABB.
After completion of the aquisition of the GGK advertising group by Trimedia in 1992, he went back to Farner PR as a partner where he reorganised the agency including the Suisse Romande activities and to be a member of the Board, later CEO and Delegate of the Board. In 1999 he became majority shareholder of Farner PR in the context of a management buyout.
Christian first represented Trimedia then Farner PR within the PR Agencies' Association BPRA and became its president from 1995 to 1998. He was also National Coordinator for Switzerland and Member of the IPRA council for many years, member of the Golden Globe Award jury and a frequent speaker at PR related and other events. He is now the Swiss Delegate with ICCO.
Christian is lecturer at St-Gall University for Business Administration with focus on political and marketing related communications. He published numerous articles on Public Relations and Investor Communications topics and is organiser of respective seminars.
