SURVEY: Benchmarking PR Expenditure |

|
Feb 13, 2007 The International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO) and Richmond Events, organiser of the annual Communication Directors’ Forum, have commissioned a major study of one of the most complex and least understood areas of international PR: the budget. The study, to be conducted by communications procurement and management consultancy Gyroscope, will be in two stages. In the first stage, web-based surveys of senior staff in client organisations and consultancies will examine patterns and trends in staffing and budgets for global PR programmes, including a review of PR spending compared with factors such as company turnover, total marketing spend and total employee numbers. In the second stage, a series of in-depth interviews with top agency and client managers will examine the thinking behind the numbers and their implications for the wider industry. The initial findings will be highlighted in PR Week in early April, and the full findings will be presented during the Communication Directors’ Forum 2007 aboard the Aurora from 9th-12th May, 2007. Further conclusions will subsequently be compiled and made available to ICCO membership. *The first, web-based stage of the survey has now been closed.
